About
Founded in 1830 by Vicente Gargallo, a ceramicist from Manises, Horchatería Santa Catalina sits beside the Church of Santa Catalina in the Barrio del Carmen and is now run by the fourth generation of the Gargallo family. The interior is lined with Manises ceramic tiles that Gargallo installed himself. It still makes horchata the traditional way, from chufa (tiger nuts) steeped and pressed on site, served with fartons for dipping alongside hot chocolate and other typically Valencian sweets.
