Kato Mili Windmills

Known as Kato Mili, this row of whitewashed windmills stands on a low rise at the south-western edge of Mykonos Town, a few minutes' walk uphill from Little Venice and the old port. Dating from the 16th century and built to harness the island's near-constant meltemi wind, they once ground wheat and barley for the Cyclades' grain trade. No longer operational, they are now protected monuments and one of the most photographed sights in Greece, with views back over the bay to Little Venice's waterfront houses and out across the open Aegean.
