Bunkers del Carmel

The Bunkers del Carmel occupy the summit of Turo de la Rovira, 262 metres up in the El Carmel neighbourhood, one of the Tres Turons hills overlooking Barcelona. The concrete platforms were built as anti-aircraft gun emplacements during the Spanish Civil War, later used as informal housing, and eventually cleared to leave the bare structures visible today. What draws people now is the unobstructed 360-degree view from the old gun positions: the Sagrada Familia and the grid of the Eixample below, the Mediterranean beyond, and Tibidabo and Collserola across the city. There's no entry fee and no facilities, just the bunkers themselves and the view.
